Normally, a small number of contact lens wearers develop the infection after using tap water or other homemade solution to rinse and store their lenses. While Advanced Medical Optics says it does not know why the solution became infected, the firm did enact a previous recall of MoisturePlus due to contamination at a Chinese factory.
