Social Networking through Game Play at Unique New Website

(PRWEB) May 23, 2007 -- A newly launched site, Truey.com, is combining game play with social networking to create a whole new way of making connections over the internet. Co-creators, Sam Landstrom and David Berg say, since its beta launch in December, the site has received nearly 30,000 visits and more than 1,300 people have registered to play. It’s free to sign up and to join in the game play.

“Truey.com is an online version of the old classic social mixer game where people tell two truths about themselves and one lie. Then, other players try to guess which one of the three statements is the lie. Several people I’ve talked to say that it’s addictive and a cool way to meet people,” says Sam Landstrom, co-creator of Truey.com.

Beyond creating and playing games, players can create their own profiles, upload pictures, email one another, and comment on each other’s content, much like at social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook. But that’s where the similarities end.

“As far as I know, Truey.com is the first site that mixes game play and the recent explosion of social networking like MySpace, Facebook, and Friendster. On Truey though, the line between the game and real people is blurred,” says David Berg, co-creator of Truey.com.

Sam Landstrom says that much of the design of Truey is based on his dissatisfaction with MySpace.

“Unless you’re a beautiful woman or someone with a ton of friends, you probably aren’t going to matter to anyone on MySpace. With Truey, everyone matters because the game is about trying to figure each other out.”

According to Sam, the Truey.com’s game play is integrated fully into the social networking aspects of the website.

“How well you play the game affects how you interact with other members. For example, you have to use points that you earn in the game to contact people directly. This has the added benefit of cutting out spammers. On other social networking sites, you get tons of spam from random porn sites, etc. On Truey, only people who are really interested in you are going to pay the point cost to contact you.”

To experience a new and unique way of meeting people, please visit www.truey.com. But watch out, it can be addictive. You may never go back to surfing the old sites again.
