New Face Parlour Website Independently Rates Skin Care Products

(PRWEB) November 15, 2007 -- Face Parlour, Inc. (http://www.faceparlour.com) today launched its independent reviews of skin care products on the Web at www.faceparlour.com. In collaboration with its esteemed medical advisory board, Face Parlour reviews skin care products based on their own and other's scientific assessments and a proprietary rating methodology.

"There are thousands of skincare products in the $6 billion skin care industry. Some work wonders, some don't," said Face Parlour Founder & Chief Aesthetician, Lauren Fornes. "We created Face Parlour to help consumers choose the best products for their skin type, based on safety, sustainability and efficacy."

The Face Parlour website is a free resource where consumers can search for product reviews by skin type, skin condition, product type and personal preferences, among other criteria. Results are returned in the form of brashly honest reviews and numeric ratings on a 100 point scale. Importantly, Face Parlour does not sell any skin care products and it does not accept advertising dollars from product manufacturers. Visitors that wish to buy a product are simply directed to independent online retailers.

To-date, consumers have based their skin care product buying decisions on friends' recommendations, celebrity endorsements and the claims of persuasive marketers or beauty counter sales clerks. Unfortunately, what works for one endorser's skin type or a business's bottom line may not work for the consumer's skin. Perpetuating the problem is the recent proliferation of websites where user-generated reviews and manufacturer advertisements further mislead and confuse the buyer.

"I'm excited to support Lauren in her mission to bring honest skin care advice to consumers," said Dr. Tracy Richmond, M.D., an educator at Harvard Medical School and one of Face Parlour's medical advisers. "People deserve to know what constitutes the products they apply to their face each day. I'm looking forward to sharing my knowledge and opinions through Face Parlour."

Lauren stumbled upon the Face Parlour concept while planning to open a day spa in San Francisco: "I was looking for a product line for my spa, but no line was all things to all people. Meanwhile, friends and family kept asking me for personalized product suggestions. Suddenly I realized I could help a lot of people, if I simply shared my research and expertise. Face Parlour was born."
