Making Money Online: How Do I Deal With Information Overload?
There are literally thousands of ebooks, courses, newsletters and endless tips and advice about the ins and outs of internet marketing. A lot of this information is hype and junk, but you can pick your way through that and find some really great resources that can show you how to do something specific. The problem is that even when you find the good stuff, you can sometimes find conflicting information from trusted sources that talk about the exact same money making method. These people just happen to disagree about the best way to go about a certain strategy. This makes it tough for the newbie to figure out what action to take. New marketers also often complain about the vagueness of the information available. They want a step-by-step solution to learning how to go about building their business. Unfortunately, this kind of precise ?how to? information is extremely hard to find. There are numerous books and advice on how to do just about anything online involving creating an income producing project that pumps out cash. Information is king, as they say, and there is no lack of knowledge for the internet marketing field. All the information you could possibly want is at your fingertips. So why do many newbies feel overwhelmed? You know, when we are faced with too many choices, our minds often just tune it all out. That?s what happens when you?re researching ideas and possibilities online. You might still be trying to figure out what exactly it is you want to do and buy up this book and that, thinking it will be the answer to all your questions. Next thing you know, your sitting there scratching your head and wondering what you?re going to do with all of those ebooks sitting on your hard drive. This is the point where you need to stop and think about what you are buying and why you are are buying it. Even if you are downloading tons of free information, are you really going to have time to weed through all of that stuff? It?s easy to get caught up in the frenzy of the next big thing being promoted online. That money making system that is guaranteed to make you big bucks. So, you get it and then, before you?ve had a chance to read through it all, you?re bombarded with tons of more information about opportunity b, c and d. Maybe you started out with a kernel of an idea of what you want to do, but soon you are completely overwhelmed with all the opportunities and possibilities, and you end up doing ? absolutely nothing. Information overload prevents a lot of would-be online marketers from ever taking any action on their ideas. It?s just too hard to make a decision, so they sit back and passively keep wishing for that perfect idea that will magically propel them to success. Fortunately, there?s an easy cure for information overload. Don?t buy or download any information product unless it is going to help YOU do whatever it is you?re working on. Meaning, if you?ve decided to learn how to do PPC advertising, you should only be focused on learning all you can about PPC advertising. You should ignore all information about anything that doesn?t help your goal of learning how to do PPC advertising. Ideally, you will follow this advice, however, the reality is you probably won?t be able to resist learning about other methods and strategies. That?s fine, but stay focused on what it is that can most help you achieve your specific goals. This brings up another good point. You should have some kind of game plan. All the information in the world isn?t going to help you if you are literally floundering around, not knowing what the heck you are trying to do. Pick one thing that you really want to learn ? then learn it. Once you know how to do that thing, move on to learning the next thing, and so on. Information is your best friend, as long as you use it wisely.
